Rachel Busler Misenar has always regarded art as her first true love. Growing up in the American South, she developed a profound appreciation for art, nurtured by her father, who introduced her to renowned painters and frequently took her on excursions to the art district on Magazine Street in New Orleans. Rachel’s work reflects a deep connection to her past and environment. She maintains a keen awareness of her roots, closely observing her surroundings—the flora and fauna in gardens and parks—and capturing them in her paintings; artist and subject matter grounded in the soil that sustains them.
Her artistic process involves layering paint and colors to forge dynamic patterns that echo nature's intricate lacework. Rather than concentrating on individual elements, Rachel emphasizes networks and ecosystems. Her artwork evolves over several days, highlighting organic shapes and lines, and favoring natural colors. While she predominantly employs acrylic paint, she also enjoys exploring other mediums such as ink, watercolors, collage, and mosaic.
Inspired by the natural beauty that envelops her, Rachel aims for her creations to encourage viewers to pause and appreciate their surroundings, motivating them to leave their own marks. Residing in Belhaven, Jackson, MS, she balances her artistic pursuits with family life as a happily married mother of three. An active member of St. Andrew's Cathedral in downtown Jackson, Rachel also dedicates her free time to outdoor activities, exercise, travel, and gardening.
Rachel shows professionally at Brown’s Fine Art in Jackson and The Caron Gallery in Tupelo and Laurel. You can also find some of her smaller pieces at Crooked Letter in downtown Meridian. Rachel has also been accepted as a new artist at Turnrow Art Company in Greenwood and at T.Clifton Gallery in Memphis. Rachel has been a part of curated shows that span from the Southeast all the way to New York City. Her vibe is bright and full of life. Enjoy!
